The Living Mountain: A Radical Jewish Nature-Connection Retreat

The Living Mountain: A Radical Jewish Nature-Connection Retreat

7th-11th June, Cae Mabon, Snowdonia, Wales

Our lineage is suffused with wild tales. Our ancestors knew themselves as kin to the breathing earth & the rhythms of jewish time supported deep connection to the earth. But empire & dispossession has uprooted us from our lineages as a land-based people. How do we reconnect with this birthright? How do we cultivate ecological belonging in ways that affirm our jewishness & reject nationalism? How to retrieve & re-imagine jewish ways of liberated connection to land?

This offering will explore radical nature-connection through a Jewish lens, learning from some of the most inspiring and renowned nature-connection facilitators & educators from the Jewish world and beyond, exploring tracking, bird-language, land justice & the ecologies of doykeit/hereness. This training will take place deep in the mountains of Wales with a ceremonial nature-vigil at the culmination of our retreat to prepare us for Shavuot.

Note, this retreat is suitable for nature-connection practitioners looking to deepen their facilitation tools and for individuals hoping to deepen their own personal nature-connection practice with a Jewish lens.

This experience will be organised and facilitated by Kohenet Sara Moon and Samson Hart, who will be joined by guest educators TBC.

This retreat will take place at the stunning eco retreat centre Cae Mabon in the Eyri//Snowdonia National Park.  There is comfortable (and very beautiful!) but basic indoor accommodation available in small cabins/hobbit houses. These will be shared. There are also a couple of camping pitches if you'd like more privacy. Please let us know if you have requirements around sleeping arrangements and we will do our best to accommodate (though we cannot promise to be able to cater to everyone's needs). There are hot showers and electricity. There is a wood-fired hot tub and an ancient lake from which you can view the tip of Snowdon!

Whilst Cae Mabon is a very magical place in many ways we regret that it is not an accessible site. It is based on the side of a mountain and requires some walking down a steep path from the car to get down to the main site. The land can be steep and uneven in places. There are no en suites, all bathrooms are outside and require a short walk from your cabin. However, if we can try to support your access needs to support your joining this retreat, please let us know, we'd love to try. Please contact us for furthur access needs.

All meals provided (mostly vegan, organic and gluten-free.) We will be catered for during this retreat and there will be snacks and a place to prepare hot drinks.

All programming included.

This retreat is open to those who identify as jewish in the most inclusive and expansive sense; including those with jewish ancestry looking to learn more about their heritage; and those on a conversion journey.

This retreat is being supported Moishe House and we are trying to keep it as low-cost as possible. That being said, our gathering will be taking place over 5 days and the funding does not cover our total costs. We will be offering places on a sliding scale and ask that you pay what you can afford, bearing in mind this sliding scale is already offered at a significant discounted rate. Your generosity will support participation for those unable to pay in full. We have limited supported places *for now*, until we can gage if there are enough funds to offer more.

Supported: £100 (limited places)

Standard: £150

Supporter: £200

Super Supporter: £250

Please make full payment to secure your place. Note, you can cancel your place within 2 weeks of the retreat for a full refund but after that it is non-refundable unless we can find someone to fill your place.
