Radical Farm Camp 2024

Radical Farm Camp 2024, 9th-14th July, Ragman’s Lane Farm, Wye Valley, UK

“...and they shall beat their swords into plowshares” Isaiah 2:4

'To tend the earth is always then to tend our destiny, our freedom and our hope.' bell hooks

"Growing food has helped me come back to myself, to know who I am beyond the grasping and unbelonging. It has shown me the many ways in which I am woven into a tapestry of being, of which we are all a part. It has allowed me to tune my ear to the call of the earth and tread on its surface with an ever-loving step. And it has shown me to walk in the footsteps of my ancestors when I couldn’t find their stories in the history books." - Claire Ratinon, Unearthed

Note: Places are extremely limited due to venue capacity, and accepted on a rolling basis. So apply now!

Radical Farm Camp is back! Join us again this summer for a 5 day immersion in ‘Radical Jewish Farming’ where we will get our hands in the soil, cook delicious farm to table feasts, learn about jewish land justice & build community on the land.

We will learn practical organic food growing skills through hands on experience in a working market garden. We will trace Jewish histories of food and farming, engaging in ancestral practices of growing and preparing food,  cooking together and enjoying delicious farm to table feasts.  We will explore the Torah of a Jewish land justice & the radical potentials of soil as solidarity and how we might get involved in land justice struggles in the UK today. We will wake early to pray & sing in community, We will experience a proper ‘Farmer’s Shabbat’, resting together at the culmination of our retreat. We will build kindred & supportive community.

This retreat will be based out of an inspiring organic market garden, permaculture farm and education center just a few minutes walk from the River Wye surrounded by the iconic landscapes of the Wye Valley.

There is comfortable but basic indoor accommodation available in a shared bunk house. There are also a couple of camping pitches if you'd like more privacy.

Please contact us for access needs.

All meals provided (mostly vegan, organic and gluten-free.) We will take it in turns to cook for each other with our very own farm to table chefs. There will be snacks and a place to prepare hot drinks.

All programming included.

This retreat is open to those who identify as jewish in the most inclusive and expansive sense; including those with jewish ancestry looking to learn more about their heritage; and those on a conversion journey.

This retreat is being supported Moishe House and we are trying to keep it as low-cost as possible. That being said, our gathering will be taking place over 5 days and the funding does not cover our total costs (around £600 per person). We will be offering places on a sliding scale and ask that you pay what you can afford, bearing in mind this sliding scale is already offered at a significant discounted rate. Your generosity will support participation for those unable to pay in full. We have limited supported places *for now*, until we can gage if there are enough funds to offer more. Note, we really need to cover costs AND we don't want to turn anyone away. Please get in touch if finances are a barrier and you might need a furthur reduced rate.

Supported: £125 (limited places)

Standard: £200

Supporter: £250

Super Supporter: £300

Once we have confirmed your place, please make full payment to secure your place. Note, you can cancel your place within 2 weeks of the retreat for a full refund but after that it is non-refundable unless we can find someone to fill your place.

Need to pay installments? Just let us know.

We look forward to receiving your applications!
